Grade 7 Ontario Mathematics Curriculum – Financial Literacy Expectation(s)

Money Concepts:

1.1 Students will identify and compare exchange rates to convert Canadian dollars to foreign dollars and vice versa.

Financial Management:

1.2 Students will identify some reliable resources to help them with writing and then implementing a financial plan.

1.3 Students will create, track, and adjust sample budgets to ensure their budgets are viable.

1.4 Students will be able to identify and describe various societal and personal factors that may influence a person’s decision-making abilities around finances.

Consumer and Civic Awareness:

1.5 Students will explain how interest rates can impact savings, investments, and the cost of borrowing money.

1.6 Students will compare interest rates and fees for different accounts and loans offered by various financial institutions to determine their best options.
