Grade 4 Ontario Mathematics Curriculum – Financial Literacy Expectation(s)
Money Concepts:
1.1 Students will identify various methods of payment that can be used to purchase goods and services.
1.2 Students will estimate and calculate the cost of transactions involving multiple items priced in whole-dollar amounts, not including sales tax and the amount of change returned when paying with cash.
Financial Management:
1.3 Students will be able to explain what spending, saving, earning, investing, and donating means and the factors that can influence them.
1.4 Students will explain the relationship between spending and saving, and how people manage their money differs from one person to the other. Not everyone spends and saves in the same way.
Consumer and Civic Awareness:
1.5 Students will use different methods to determine whether a product or service is reasonably priced, making it a good purchase.
